Your business isn’t static. It’s dynamic, ever-changing and growing every day. Do you have a business plan for this?
The goals you set at the beginning of your business should change over time. Sales come and go, and before you know it you’re operating a fully functioning business with a team underneath you. As good as that is, it doesn’t mean it’s time to kick up your heels and pat yourself on the back for a job well done.
A functioning business is only the beginning of the life long journey to running a successful + sustainable business.
Your business will cycle through three phases: chaos, control, + scale.
To know where you’re going, you need to know where you’ve been. And where you are right now.
Is it time to find out exactly where you’re at in your business journey?
Is Your Business In Chaos? Are you in Chaos?
It can be difficult to recognise business chaos because sometimes it feels like success. Chaos comes in different forms.
If you’re working 7 days a week, with very limited family time, missing deadlines and opportunities. You’re working in the business, not on the business, and being a technician instead of a business owner. If you’re dead on your feet, lack self-care, and there’s no time to recharge.
You’ve got time chaos.
If there’s negative cashflow, lack of cashflow, or lack of cash. You don’t know the numbers and you’re in the dark. If there’s no profit and huge tax.
You’ve got money chaos.
If your energy is depleted and your relationships damaged. If you’ve got stress and health issues. If you’re chasing your tail and have lost your passion.
You’ve got life chaos.
How To Get Control Of The Chaos:
Be honest with yourself and identify the issues, identify the gaps and prioritise the fix so you can move into controlling your business. What’s keeping you awake at night? What are your frustrations? Actively search for the answers or the person that can work with you to move your business into Control.
Is Your Business In Control But Stagnant?
There are a few elements of structure and foundation in your business. You have a working team.
There’s balance between working in and working on your business. Your business has an owner, not just a technician.
There are opportunities to grow and you’re ready to take it to the next level.
Your business is in control but it’s not finished.
You’re stuck in the control phase.
How do you take your business to the next level.
Be honest and identify the issues. Have you grown with your business? Has your Vision grown with it? Identify the gaps and prioritise the fix so you can move into controlling your business. Actively search for the answers or the person that can work with you to move your business beyond Control and into Scale
How To Move Beyond Control + Scale:
Ask yourself: what’s next? Is my vision still as strong as it was when I started? Do I want to grow? How big?
Are You Scaling Consistently?
Scaling isn’t a destination, it’s a constant process.
Scale means continuously growing, progressing, and making changes necessary to remain relevant and sustainable in an ever-changing market place. As you step into the scale process, strategies that have worked for you in the past may need to change to accommodate your growth. Consider that improved systems, structure and management styles might need to be implemented.
Moving forward always requires us to go back – back to Mastery – review what we have achieved and what may need to change in order to grow and move forward
Running a business at a whole new level means you’re back to the learning phase.
We need to Re-Master to deal with the growth and the change
How To Successfully Manage Scaling Your Business:
Implement new controls as you relearn to master running a successful business that is scaling itself. Meeting your Vision and achieving the goals you have set for yourself
Always remember that as our business grows WE need to grow with it. We need to ensure that we develop the skills and the knowledge to keep control of the Scale.
If you find that Frustrations start to appear and you are again awake at night – look for the person that can work with you to help you get to the place you want to be.
Change is the only constant in business. When it comes down to it, it’s a continuous cycle through phases of Chaos, Control and Scale.
When you get to Control, it is key to never become distracted and complacent. That’s when chaos reappears. That kind of chaos can be fatal to your business.
Always ensure you are realigning your goals and yourself with your business. You need to be able to identify which areas need some work, and find the best time to work on any issues that arise.
Remember, this journey can be shared. There are many people out there that are serving business owners every day – helping, coaching, and guiding them. Have the courage to ask for help – you never know, you may be swimming unnecessarily, or ready to scale and miss the opportunity.
