You had a vision.
Quit your 9-5 and started your business.
It went well for a while. Very well.
But then something changed.
It started to feel like a grind.
You started to feel that Monday morning dread creep in.
When your daily perception of your business becomes work and when it becomes a job, it’s no longer honouring your vision.
And that’s not what you signed up for.
Guess what? I don’t work. I don’t have a job.
And I want you to proudly be able to say the same thing.
You are a business owner with a vision. So am I. Owning a business is supposed to give us choice and contribute to our overall quality of life.
I’m still clear on my vision. That’s why I don’t work. Why I don’t have a job. Coaching isn’t a job. It’s not work. It’s my happy place.
The technical side of who we are in our business shouldn’t be a job or work.
It should be the fun part.
You and I started our businesses for the same reason. Because we’re amazing at what we do.
And we love it.
I look forward to every single session I have with clients. Coaching sessions are my happy place. The fun part. My joy.
Do you still love what you do? Do you still believe in what you sell?
Check in with yourself on Monday morning when your alarm goes off. Check in with yourself when you’re tweaking a program at 7pm on a Friday.
Does it feel like hard work? Or are you still smiling, because you don’t “have to” do this. You CHOOSE to do this. It’s a pleasure.
If it starts to feel like work, there’s something really important you need to do.
The disconnect and reconnect.
The disconnect and reconnect
Perhaps you think you don’t need to disconnect because you love what you do. It’s fun. Your passion.
No one needs to disconnect from fun.
But are you still having fun?
Because something happens when you show up day after day. Night after night. Obsessed with your business. No breaks in sight.
Dissatisfaction starts to appear.
Why? Because you’re human. And the sooner you acknowledge and accept this dissatisfaction, the sooner you can get back on track and feel that joy again.
The first thing you need to do is figure out where it’s coming from. What it’s all about
Dissatisfaction disconnects you from your vision. Turns your vision into a job and your job into work.
And that’s the last thing we want.
It’s really common to try to beat this creeping dissatisfaction by throwing yourself further into work.
That is a reaction out of fear. And will drive you further and further from your vision in the long run.
You need to stop.
Disconnect. Yes. I know that seems counterintuitive.
When you start to feel dissatisfaction, allow the disconnection to happen from a safe distance, look at what is causing you to lose touch with the big picture, the vision
Fear? Lack of resources? Burnout? No personal time? Mind won’t slow down?
This is normal. This is what it’s like to run a business. It doesn’t have to be hard though.
And here’s Why!
When you trust the structure and foundation have strength, you can always take a step back and reconnect with your vision instead of throwing yourself into daily distractions.
Go back to your vision. Re educate yourself. Look at some personal development and business development options.
Your vision should always be your driving force. It’s the only way forward.
If you want more, you can have it. You get out what you put in. But you have to have the capacity to put more in.
Disconnect. Because that’s the only way you get to reconnect in a different and often better way
That’s what a lot of people forget.
Disconnect. Reconnect. And you will remain in touch with your passion. Your vision.
Your business will never become a job. Will never become work.
