Marketing is lead generation. It’s making sure your target market knows that you exist.
Now it’s time to look at what marketing control looks like.
Marketing control is having a structured system to communicate your offers to your ideal clients. Marketing control is understanding what you do, when you do it, and how to execute it efficiently at every step of your marketing process.
It’s easy to get caught on a marketing treadmill, constantly reaching out. Marketing chaos is time-consuming.
You need a clear idea of your structure and process so that your marketing is almost set and forget.
Marketing control only comes with a clear and defined structure and process.
Everything under the marketing umbrella needs you to have an understanding of when you do it, how you do it, and whose responsibility it is. That’s an important point. Marketing control needs your leadership.
It’s important to hand certain tasks to your team, but be careful you’re delegating, not abdicating.
I see this all the time. The difference is that abdication is handing over a task and assuming it’s done. Delegation involves follow-ups, such as weekly meetings. You need to know where your business stands.
It can be tempting to focus all of your energy on one form of marketing. This leaves you incredibly vulnerable to chaos if your chosen platform doesn’t give the results you were after.
10 by 10 marketing involves ten different mediums for your marketing. These might be email, radio, social media, or newsletters. Whatever works best for you to reach your target market.
Again, it shouldn’t take too much of your time. We’re aiming at set and forget. For now.
You need to be able to develop and grow your diverse marketing strategies, and understand how they work and how they fit into your business.
Control needs you to not only have your marketing strategies planned, delegated, and monitored, but you also need to periodically reassess if you’re getting the expected return from each stream.
Review your numbers and results regularly. When marketing is under control it’s not a cost to you. Whatever you invest in your marketing, know how many sales are generated. Know how many leads you get, whether or not the sale is closed yet.
Leads lead to sales. At its core, marketing is really about lead generation. Control is only possible when your marketing investment is showing you a return.
Marketing control is only possible in a system that’s structured. With a clear delegation and follow up process.
The online marketing world changes so fast. Stay on top of what’s changed each month.
Something as simple as a character increase on Hootsuite can let you fall behind unless you tweak your marketing strategy.
Get on top of your marketing. Even if you delegate, monitor your strategy regularly and be aware of what’s going on.
Marketing control leads to the sales that keep your business running.
